Web-based financial system for small and mid-sized businesses: income, expenses, accounts, categories, cash flow and reports, with a dashboard where charts take center stage. Built as a sellable product, installed on the client's own hosting through a custom installer or offered as a monthly subscription, with multi-company support from day one.

The context
Small businesses usually track their finances in scattered spreadsheets or in systems that are too big, too expensive and full of screens nobody uses. What was missing was a simple, good-looking and direct tool that shows at a glance how much came in, how much went out and what is due in the coming days, and that could be installed on the client's own hosting.
The goal
Create a sellable product, not a one-off project: a financial system that runs on ordinary shared hosting, is installed by a wizard with no technical knowledge and is ready to serve several companies, so it can also be sold as a monthly subscription.
What was built
- Overview with consolidated balance, balance trend, monthly income and expenses, expenses by category and bills due in the next 20 days.
- Income and expenses with filters by status, account, category and period, and recurrence and installments generated at creation time (no dependency on a hosting task scheduler).
- Cash flow with balance trend and monthly summary, and reports by period ready to print or save as PDF.
- Accounts and categories, with a default category plan created at installation.
- Company and user: company or personal tax ID, profile photo with cropping, email change confirmed at the new address and password recovery by email.
- Web installer that creates the database, the company and the first user, and an installable app for phone and computer.
How it was done
A custom PHP MVC, with no framework and no Composer, so it runs on any shared hosting from PHP 8.2. Every table carries the company identifier and every query is filtered by it, which allows serving several clients on the same server without migration. The chosen visual direction, called Midnight, has dark and light themes and lets the charts dominate the screen. The first version went live three days after the project started.
